Florida’s warm, humid climate makes hibiscus bloom with effortless abundance. Bold pink blossoms pop up everywhere you go. One day, I decided to challenge myself with a specific skill: mastering the delicate art of painting dew drops in oils, capturing how they catch the light, refract colors, and cling precariously to petals.
This piece is the result—a vibrant pink hibiscus emerging dramatically from a deep, shadowy background of intertwined branches and leaves. I used layered oil techniques to build depth, translucency, and subtle highlights.
