Mountain Cabin Memories

8″ x10″ oil on canvas

Not for sale

During our cherished getaway at our mountain cabin high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, I rediscovered some old oil paints tucked away from my college days—nearly forty five years old, yet still perfectly usable!

With the cabin already on the market as we prepared to relocate to Florida, I wanted a keepsake to capture its cozy, rugged warmth. So I painted this alla prima piece quickly in one sitting: a view from inside looking out, featuring the worn leather armchair, the vintage floor lamp with its soft glow, and a classic Western saddle draped over its stand—framed against the misty blue peaks and forested slopes beyond the window.

The warm earth tones of the wood interior contrast with the cool, distant mountains, preserving that timeless sense of peace and adventure we loved so much.
