MOTHER AND CHILD IN WINDOW IN AZURACCIO

     Mother and Child in Window is painted in the blue-grey azuraccio ten value palette under painting color. It is painted on un-tempered masonite with five coats of Renaissance marble gesso. The wood window frame is built up in relief using the Renaissance marble gesso to depict the rough weathered texture and grain of the wood. The adobe wall also has a slight texture. The background and portraits are painted on a smoother surface of sanded Renaissance marble gesso.

     The mother and child are from the Gedeo tribe in Ethiopia. Their village is adjacent to a coffee plantation. My husband,Brad , on a mission trip saw her relaxing with her baby resting on the windowsill while taking a walk.
