SUNSET ON LIBERTY

Oil on Panel
12″ x 16″
Available

“Sunset on Liberty” is an original landscape painted in the Classical Academic Method. The under-painting is the blue-grey palette of azuraccio with the color of the light at sunset mixed in. The over-painting is a series of oil glazes. It is painted on un-tempered masonite with five coats of Renaissance marble gesso.

The title of the painting, “Sunset on Liberty” could be interpreted two ways. Perhaps it is just a pretty painting of a sunset over the iconic Statue of Liberty, or perhaps the real meaning is an actual “Sunset” of “Liberty.” Perhaps I am depicting what we are seeing happening to our liberties here in the U.S.A. If you watch the news you will realize that liberties granted to us by our forefathers in the Constitution are being chipped away one by one as we complacently live our lives of pleasure. You decide the meaning.
