23″ x 36″ oil on marble gessoed wood panel
I painted this copy of “Jesus and the Lamb” while studying under my master teacher, Frank Covino. The original artist is still living today, so I respectfully reached out and asked for his permission to make a copy, promising that I would never sell it or profit from it in any way.
I was deeply moved by the way the artist portrayed our Lord gently and lovingly cradling a sick lamb in His arms. When the artist shared the story behind the painting, it touched me even more. The lamb they used as a model that day was actually ill and quite limp, so instead of draping it across His shoulders as originally planned, the model held it tenderly in his arms. The artist captured that beautiful moment of compassion so perfectly that it radiates with genuine love and care.
That kind of emotional depth is the mark of a true artist. I knew right then that I had to paint this piece myself.
